Unleash the Power of Mega Charizard X: A Pokémon TCG Collector's Dream

Mega Charizard X ex and More from the Pokémon TCG: Phantasmal Flames Expansion

Launching November 14, 2025

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is heating up again with its latest release, Mega Evolution: Phantasmal Flames. We’ve already seen a glimpse of what’s coming, but the new cards being introduced deserve a closer look. Between Mega Evolutions, bold Darkness-types, and a touch of Psychic power, this expansion is shaping up to be something special.

Let’s take a closer look at some of the highlights you’ll want to keep an eye out for when the set lands.

Mega Heracross ex

Illustrator: 5ban Graphics

Mega Heracross returns with sheer power and presence. The artwork captures its raw energy as it charges up for a devastating strike, with a subtle outline of its male form behind it. Its Juggernaut Horn attack starts at 100 damage, but if Mega Heracross ex took damage during your opponent’s last turn, it hits back even harder. For those who like to play aggressively, Mountain Ramming dishes out 170 damage while discarding the top two cards of your opponent’s deck.

Mega Charizard X ex looks incredible in this expansion. Blue flames light up the night sky while Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard stand below, all connected through bold motion lines that pull the scene together. Its Inferno X attack deals 90 damage for every Fire Energy you discard from your Pokémon. The more Fire Energy you commit, the more destructive the attack becomes.

Toxtricity

Toxtricity brings a punk edge to the set, glaring down with attitude. Its Sinister Surge Ability lets you search your deck for a Basic Darkness Energy and attach it to a Benched Darkness Pokémon, with a small tradeoff of two damage counters. It’s a clever way to accelerate your setup. After that, Gentle Slap offers a solid 100 damage for two Darkness Energy and one of any type.

Mega Gengar ex

Mega Gengar ex brings a dark, eerie power to the expansion. With Void Gale, you can deal 230 damage and move an Energy to one of your Benched Pokémon to keep momentum going. Paired with Toxtricity’s Energy acceleration, this card is a Darkness deck powerhouse. Its Shadowy Concealment Ability even reduces the number of Prize cards your opponent takes when one of your Darkness Pokémon is knocked out by a Pokémon ex.

Sableye

Sableye, a mischievous gem collector caught in the sunlight, rounds out the Darkness lineup. Its Cocky Claw attack does 20 base damage but jumps to 90 if you have a Stage 2 Darkness Pokémon on your Bench, like Mega Gengar ex. A small but tactical addition to any Darkness team.

Wondrous Patch

This beautiful Item card fits right into Psychic decks. Wondrous Patch lets you attach a Basic Psychic Energy from your discard pile to one of your Benched Psychic Pokémon. It’s as useful as it is striking, with swirling purple and pink tones that make it a collector’s favorite.
